![]() ![]() It's hard to get at from the outside since it is on the 2nd floor. The upper sash itself wouldn't even budge up and down. We know because we tried to pry into them but they were quite deep. The side stops are covered with aluminum casing and go into the side quite a lot. However, the top sash is stuck on and we have no clue how to get it off without breaking the window frame or side stops. We were able to remove the bottom sash which had a metal string that coils back into the sash which screws into the frame (kind of like a replacement for those old rope/weight things). The 2nd floor ones were painted over multiple times and glazing is coming off for sure. They still work okay, esp the first floor ones so instead of replacing them all we decided to keep them and just touch them up a little bit, like clean/reglaze and paint. I have a house from the 50's with original wooden single(?) hung windows. I wonder if anyone has any experience with this. ![]()
